Sliger Data Center Renovation in 2021
We are excited to announce that ITS is investing in the Sliger Data-center. As of now, the project is scheduled to complete in mid-to-late 2021.

XPRA being replaced by Open OnDemand
As of December 15, 2020, XPRA will no longer be available to use on the Spear or HPC clusters. Open OnDemand is replacing it.

VPN and guest account changes
VPN changes: All RCC guest account users will need to obtain guest FSUIDs. This change was triggered by the recent requirement of using two-factor authentication using DUO on all FSU VPN profiles.

August Maintenance Complete
We have completed our August maintenance downtime, and we appreciate everybody's patience while our systems were unavailable. During the maintenance, we accomplished critical upgrades to our HPC, storage systems, power, and networking infrastructures.

Open OnDemand in "pre-production"
What does "pre-production" mean? It means the system is stable and deployed, but we haven't published documentation information on our website yet. We are are also still seeking feedback about both the usefulness and stability of the tool.

August Maintenance Draft Schedule
Due to the situation around COVID-19, we had to reschedule our maintenance, originally planned for May, 2020 to August, 2020. The situation is changing every day, but as of today, the maintenance is still scheduled for the week of August 3 - 7.

XSEDE (virtual) Summer HPC Bootcamp to occur June 2 - 5
XSEDE will be conducting a HPC Workshop: Summer Boot Camp from June 2-5, 2020. Registration closes May 29 and at publication time, there are only 216 spots out of 500 left, so if you're interested be sure to register right away!

May maintenance delayed until at-least August
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the hardware maintenance that was previously scheduled for May 4 - 8 is postponed until at-least August. We have not determined specific dates yet, but we are targeting a one-week period sometime in-between the Summer and Fall semesters (August 3 - 21).

Introducing OpenOnDemand
We are currently seeking beta testers for a new tool that we are testing, Open OnDemand, which provides easy web access to the HPC.

The Research Computing Center (RCC) at Florida State University (FSU) has an open position for the role of HPC Operations Manager. The Operations Manager leads the management, deployment, configuration and the operation of all computer facilities within RCC. This includes mentoring, training, and supervising a team of staff members assigned to HPC systems administration tasks as well as taking the lead on our devops environment.
