Other responsibilities include mentoring student workers assigned to systems administration tasks and collaborating with faculty on issues regarding systems planning. System planning will include issues such as researching best and most practical solutions and requesting proposal for hardware and software solutions. This position is required to function effectively in a relatively independent style to solve systems related problems.

As part of FSU’s central Information Technology Services (ITS), the Operations Manager will liaison on behalf of RCC with duties in compliance with ITS policies, guidelines, and processes pertaining to support requests, work orders, project management, change management, and incident management.
The FSU Research Computing Center supports a wide set of research areas, from traditional HPC applications like Numerical Weather Prediction and Molecular Dynamics to novel areas like AI/DL/ML and GIS software. The Center houses a modest sizes cluster of around 13K cores, around 5 PB of storage and includes a small sized GPU cluster. RCC consists of a small staff of 10 permanent positions, 3 of which will report to the Operations Manager.
