The RCC Systems Team is working to improve the reliability of our systems and services. In that regard, we have scheduled several maintenance windows over the next two months for various systems.

We believe that this approach will be less disruptive to RCC users than a full system outage. However, if you anticipate any issues with this schedule, please let us know (support@rcc.fsu.edu), and we will make every effort to accomodate your needs.

Note: HPC Rack 6 maintenance was originally scheduled for Oct 30 & 31.  It has been moved to November 27 & 28.

October 4 & 5 - Move export nodes and Globus system from Dirac to Sliger Data Center. Globus and NFS/Samba shares will be unavailable during this time.

October 9 & 10 - Upgrade networking in HPC Rack 3. Some HPC compute nodes will be unavailable during this time, but most of the HPC will be available. If you have access to an owner-based partition with nodes in this rack, we will email you before the maintenance to let you know which nodes will be down.

October 9 & 10 - Consolidate all login nodes in Sliger Data Center. We expect no downtime for this move, but if you are logged into hpc-login-xx when we shut it down, you will need to reconnect.

October 16 & 17 - Upgrade networking in HPC Rack 4. Some HPC compute nodes will be unavailable during this time, but most of the HPC will be available. If you have access to an owner-based partition with nodes in this rack, we will email you before the maintenance to let you know which nodes will be down.

October 23 & 24 - Upgrade networking in HPC Rack 5. Some HPC compute nodes will be unavailable during this time, but most of the HPC will be available. If you have access to an owner-based partition with nodes in this rack, we will email you before the maintenance to let you know which nodes will be down.

October 23 thru 26 - Move the Spear System from Dirac to Sliger Data Center. Spear will be unavailable during this time. Lustre will be available via the HPC login nodes.

November 6 & 7 - Upgrade networking in HPC Rack 7. Some HPC compute nodes will be unavailable during this time, but most of the HPC will be available. If you have access to an owner-based partition with nodes in this rack, we will email you before the maintenance to let you know which nodes will be down.

November 13 - Move and upgrade HPC Controller node. We may need to make the Slurm scheduler unavailable during this time. If this is the case, job submissions and Slurm notifications will be unavailable for several hours during the upgrade.

November 13 & 14 - Upgrade networking in HPC Rack 8. Some HPC compute nodes will be unavailable during this time, but most of the HPC will be available. If you have access to an owner-based partition with nodes in this rack, we will email you before the maintenance to let you know which nodes will be down.

November 13 thru 16 - Move systems in HPC Racks 12 and 20. Some HPC compute nodes will be unavailable during this time, but most of the HPC will be available. If you have access to an owner-based partition with nodes in this rack, we will email you before the maintenance to let you know which nodes will be down.

November 27 & 28 - Upgrade networking in HPC Rack 6. Some HPC compute nodes will be unavailable during this time, but most of the HPC will be available. If you have access to an owner-based partition with nodes in this rack, we will email you before the maintenance to let you know which nodes will be down.

Please expect to receive frequent emails from notice@hpc.fsu.edu over the next two months with information and reminders about these upgrades.
