When Hurricane Hermine hit Tallahassee on September 1, 2016, an entire rack of our recently-purchased 2015 nodes were damaged and in need of replacement.  Over the next several months, RCC worked with FSU, FEMA, and vendors to purchase, receive, install, and deploy replacement servers for our users.

We are happy to report that all of the nodes that were damanged have now been replaced and re-added to the HPC Cluster.  The new nodes were purchased from Lenovo, and they contain the following specifications:

• 2 x 12 core Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2680 v3 @ 2.50GHz processors
• 128GB RAM (64GB per physical CPU)

Having completed this, as well as several other minor hardware replacements, the RCC has now fully recovered from the damage inflected by Hurricane Hermine.  We are working hard to ensure our infrastructure can weather future storms and such events.  In this regard, we have been working with the University to migrate our infrastrutcture to a fully-manged datacenter in 2017.  We will keep users appraised of how this project progresses.
