1,652 new CPU cores added to HPC

We've recently purchased and implemented 64 new Lenovo nodes, adding 1,652 new Intel cores to our HPC cluster.  This brings the theroetical peak performance up to 264.6 TeraFlops.

The HPC just got another performance boost!  We've added 64 Lenovo compute nodes to the cluster, which brings our total HPC stats to:

  • 708 nodes
  • 12,492 CPU cores
  • 264.6 TFlop peak performance

Each new node contains two Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2680 v4 @ 2.40GHz CPUs CPUs with 12 cores and 64 GB RAM each (total 24 cores / 128GB RAM per node).  These CPUs perform 16 operations per cycle, making them the most efficient CPUs in the HPC.

The new nodes are allocated and are already processing jobs in backfillbackfill2, and owner-based partitions.
