Artificial Photosynthesis and Nuclear Waste Research

Dr. Jose Mendoza-Cortes — March 2017

Dr. Jose Mendoza-Cortes, an assistant professor in Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, partners with the RCC to support his resarch in quantum mechanics and molecular dynamics.  His lab is working on artificial photosynthesis and the recovery of nuclear waste.

"We’re trying to reproduce what nature does, but with things that we can create in the lab that last for a long time... Our codes try to follow the laws of nature, and those codes need to run in supercomputers or a cluster of computers."

Dr. Mendoza's team uses the HPC to run simulations and the Spear cluster to analyze simulation results and interact with the data.
