This summer, we will replace the scheduling and job management software on the High Performance Computing Cluster with a new package called Slurm. Slurm will replace the current MOAB/Torque workload manager that we have been using for the past eight years. This will affect all HPC users. For more information, see our news announcement.

This workshop will cover the basics of migrating your HPC jobs to the new scheduler, and will include information on:

• What Slurm is and how to use it
• Slurm job submission and job management commands
• New and different functionality in Slurm
• Updating your job submission script and other code to use Slurm instead of MOAB

Workshop Format

This is an interactive, hands-on workshop. It will be held in a fully-equipped classroom laboratory with computers. Attendees may bring their own notebook computers, but this will not be necessary.

Instructor

This workshop is led by Paul van der Mark, Operations Manager at the RCC, and Terry Ward, Systems Specialist. Dr. van der Mark and Terry have been coordinating and executing the migration from MOAB to Slurm.

Location

The location of these workshops is Dirac Science Library Room 152 (map). NOTE: The entrance is located on the southeast corner of the building, across from the Oceanography building next to the parking garage. Use that entrance, not the main library entrance.
