Off-Campus VPN Access

Note: As of September 1, all RCC guest accounts owned by people not affiliated with FSU must obtain a guest FSUID to use the RCC systems.  Instructions are here.

To connect to RCC Resources from off-campus, you must use the FSU VPN Service.  Once you are on the VPN, you can then connect to our services (via SSH or other protocol) as if you were on campus.

Connecting with AnyConnect

We recommend downloading and using the FSU AnyConnect client, which provides seamless, transparent access to the FSU Network from off-campus.

  1. Login to the using your FSIUD username and password.
  2. Click AnyConnect in the navigation menu.
  3. On Windows and Mac, do the following:
    1. Click Start AnyConnect to download and install the client (you will see some Java confirmation dialogs, and may need to install Java on your workstation).
  4. On Linux, do the following:
    1. Download the Linux client from the Linux x86_64 link.
    2. Find the downloaded installer file and run it: chmod 755 ~/Downloads/anyconnect*.sh && ~/Downloads/anyconnect-*.sh
  5. The AnyConnect client will be available in your Start Menu (Windows), Applications folder (Mac), or Applications List (Linux). Start the program and authenticate in order to login.

    2. Students, gusets, and former employees: Fill in in the "Connect To" box, and the press [ENTER] or click on the Connect button.
    3. Follow the on-screen prompts to connect and complete the two-factor authentication process.

Connecting from Linux with OpenConnect - deprecated

Recent Linux distributions provide binaries for Cisco-compatible open-source network clients in their package repositories.  However, for most use-cases, we recommend the official Cisco AnyConnect client (as described above), because it works seamlessly with Duo 2FA.

We are working to figure out a method to access RCC resources with OpenConnect right now, but for the moment, we recommend that you use the AnyConnect client.
