RCC Monitoring Tropical Storm Nate
The Research Computing Center staff is monitoring the progress of Hurricane Nate. We do not expect a direct hit at this time, but we are preparing for any possible impact scenarios, including a potential landfall near Tallahassee on or about Sunday, October 8.
- Tomorrow, October 6, we will decide if we need to shut down our older computing infrastructure in the Dirac server room during the weekend; this will mainly impact the backfill and general access partitions.
- On Saturday, October 7, we will decide if we need to shutdown all services in the Dirac server room (Lustre, VMs, Spear).
We do not anticipate that any services in Sliger will be affected, regardless of whether the storm hits or not. This includes Panasas and most HPC nodes.
If we need to take any action related to the storm, we will post notices tomorrow and/or Saturday via this email, our website, and our Twitter feed (@fsurcc).
Be prepared and stay safe.
